The new Iomega StorCenter ix2-200's hardware platform includes a Marvell Kirkwood processor with 256 MB of RAM, Gigabit Ethernet LAN port supporting up to 9000 Byte jumbo frames and three USB 2.0 ports to support storage expansion and printer serving.

Dual, user-replaceable (but not hot-swappable) 3.5" SATA drives can be configured as a JBOD or RAID 1 volume, but not RAID 0. CIFS/SMB, NFS and AFP/Bonjour Network File Protocols are supported as well as FTP, HTTP, and HTTPS network services.

Business-focused features provided by the ix2-200's Linux-based NAS running EMC's LifeLine OS include iSCSI target support with block-level access, Windows AD / Domain support, recording and monitoring for up to five Axis network cameras, folder quotas and VMware certification for virtualization support.

Immediate and scheduled backups can be made to and from attached USB drives, rsync servers or CIFS/SMB networked shares. Iomega is also including unlimited EMC Retrospect Express licenses for Windows client backkup. The ix2-200 also can be used as storage for Apple's Time Machine feature.

Other features include secure remote access ($9.95 / year after first year), UPnP AV / DLNA certified and iTunes media servers, web photo server, Torrent download manager and Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) support,

The ix2-200 comes in 1, 2 and 4 TB configurations with MSRPs of $269.99, $369.99, and $699.99, respectively. The 1 and 2 TB models are available now and the 4 TB will follow "later this month". The StorCenter ix2-200 is backed by a three-year warranty.
