QNAP logoUpdated - QNAP has announced a portable SSD NAS.

The QG-103N QGenie is a 7-in-1 mobile 32 GB SSD-based NAS that supports up to 20 users with simultaneous file access by up to 8 users. Its hardware platform is based on a 600 MHz MIPS 24KEc CPU with 64 MB of RAM and 16 MB of flash.

Other hardware features include a USB 3.0 port, built-in 3000mAh battery, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN port, SD card support and OLED display. QGenie shares Internet access wirelessly through wired or built-in N150 classs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, smartphone hotspot or LTE/4G/3G dongle.

QGenie runs QNAP's QGenie OS that supports SMB/CIFS file sharing, WebDAV and both UPnP and Bonjour discovery. Files can be accessed via the built-in myQNAPcloud service and Qfile mobile iOS and Android apps.

QGenie files can be synchronized automatically with a QNAP Turbo NAS when connected to a Windows or MacOS system with Qsync enabled. The built-in 3000mAh battery provides up to 10 hours or operation and charges devices with fast USB charging. QGenie also can be used as a USB-connected portable SSD when connected to a Windows or MacOS system via its USB 3.0 port. It also supports file copies to and from its SD slot.

Updated - QNAP says QGenie will be available mid-August at list for $129.
