Synology has added to its line of expandable NASes.
The DS1515+ and DS1815+ are five and eight-bay NASes with base capacities of 30 TB and 48 TB using 6 TB drives.
Both are powered by a 2.4 GHz quad-core Intel Atom C2538 processor with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM expandable to 6 GB.
Hot-swappable drive bays can be loaded with 2.5 or 3.5" hard or solid-state drives configurable into multiple single-drive, JBOD, RAID 0,1,5,6 and 10 or Synology Hybrid RAID volumes.
Both have four aggregatable Gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 3.0 and two eSATA ports. Expansion is via up to two eSATA-connected DX513 5 bay expansion units, providing total capacities of 90 TB and 108 TB for the DS1515+ and DS1815+, respectively.
Synology claims write throughput "exceeding" 420 MB/s for DS1815+ and 390 MB/s for DS1515+ and read throughput "exceeding" 450 MB/s for both.
The pair run the just-released DiskStation Manager (DSM) 5.1 NAS OS, with a wide range of features including Synology High Availability (SHA), SSD read/write cache support and VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft Hyper-V certification.
