HP Refreshes MediaSmart Server line

HP today announced an updated version of its Windows Home Server-based MediaSmart Server line designed for use with both Windows and Mac OS clients.

SonicWALL yesterday announced a refresh of its Continuous Data Protection (CDP) product line, which provides continuous disk-based backup and recovery for small and medium size businesses.

New firmware available for QNAP TS-509 Pro

QNAP has released version 2.1.0 firmware for its TS-509 Pro Turbo NAS. New features include iSCSI target service (up to 8 targets), AES 256-bit volume encryption, monitoring and recording from up to 4 network cameras and performance improvements.

The new firmware can be downloaded at no cost from QNAP.

Debian adds selected NAS support

The Debian installer team has announced the first release candidate of the installer for Debian 5.0 GNU/Linux (Lenny), which includes support for selected NASes based on Marvell's ARM-compatible Orion processor.

Synology approves 1.5TB drive

Synology today announced that it has approved Seagate's 1.5TB ST31500341AS drive for use with its DS508, DS408, and RS408/RS408-RP NASes.
