QNAP adds higher-performance TS-109 and TS-209 NASes

QNAP Systems recently announced the next generation of its one and two drive TS-109 Pro and TS-209 Pro NASes.

The TS-109 Pro II and TS-209 Pro II are based on a Marvell 500MHz CPU and 256MB of DDRII memory; twice the memory of the previous generation versions.

The new models carry forward all of the features of the TS-109 Pro and TS-209 Pro, including TwonkyMedia server, LAMP web and mySQL database servers.

The TS-109 Pro II and TS-209 Pro II are available now at MSRPs of $329 and $429 respectively.

EMC buying Iomega

EMC and Iomega late yesterday announced a definitive agreement for EMC to acquire San Diego-based Iomega in a cash tender offer of $3.85 per outstanding share, or approximately $213 million.

Buffalo intros palm-sized Terabyte RAID 1 NAS

Buffalo Technology today announced a new miniature dual-drive NAS with 1 TB capacity.

Buffalo Linkstation MiniThe LinkStation Mini (LS-WS1.0TGL/R1) measures only 1.57 x 3.22 x 5.31 inches and weighs slightly over a pound. It has a gigabit Ethernet port and dual 5,400RPM 2.5 inch notebook drives and supports both RAID 0 and 1, as well as Active Directory.

eFileCabinet announces Home, SMB and Enterprise Online Backup Service

eFileCabinet today announced its new service offering, Concentsus Online Backup. The Concentsus solution is based on EMC's Fortress suite of online backup services. It performs automatic backups from Windows computers and servers via a secure SSL-based connection to eFileCabinet's offsite servers.

Iomega adds rack-mount Linux NASes

Iomega today announced a new family of Linux-based rack-mount NASes in 1TB, 2TB and 3TB capacities.

The new Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 200rL Linux Servers feature gigabit Ethernet LAN, four hot-swappable SATA drives with auto-rebuild and support RAID 0, 0+1, 5 and JBOD modes.

Thecus adds media server, iSCSI NASes

Updated: 18 March 20008: Thecus has renamed the N3200M to the M3800.

Thecus today announced two additions to its line of RAID 5 NASes, the three-drive N3200M and five drive iSCSI i5500.

Thecus N3200MThe N3200M is aimed at media serving applications and has DLNA, UPnP AV, iTunes servers and includes a photo sharing application and USB webcam support.
