Broadcom launched 2x2 and 3x3 802.11ac SoCs at CES 2014.
The BCM43569 is a dual-band 2x2 MIMO combo chip (802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1) aimed at media platforms such as digital televisions and "over-the-top" media boxes.
It supports USB 2.0 or 3.0 access to both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and has integrated power amplifiers for both bands and a separate Bluetooth low-noise amplifier with customized Wi-Fi and Bluetooth coexistence algorithms.
The BCM43602 is a 3x3 MIMO 802.11ac SoC that is a pin-compatible, drop in and full-feature replacement to Broadcom's BCM4360 that is in most 3x3 802.11ac routers today. It is squarely aimed at performance with the entire WLAN driver running in it, freeing up the host CPU for other duties.
Both devices are sampling now and coming soon to a router near you.
