Buffalo announces 3TB NASes

Buffalo Technology today announced the 3TB versions of its TeraStation RAID NASes.

The TeraStation Live is aimed at consumer multimedia applications as well as backup and file sharing and includes iTunes and DLNA servers.

The TeraStation Pro II if intended for small business use and includes UPS compatibility and Active Directory Support.

Both TeraStation product lines are Windows and Mac OS compatible, feature two USB 2.0 ports, a gigabit Ethernet with jumbo frame LAN port and support RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 modes.

The 3TB TeraStation Live (HS-DH3.0TGL/R5) and 3TB TeraStation Pro II (TS-H3.0TGL/R5) are available now at estimated street prices of $2,499 each.

Buffalo adds remote web access to NAS line

Buffalo Technology earlier this week announced its new Web Access feature for its LinkStation Live NAS products, including a music streaming feature.

Web Access provides secure browser-based access to any content stored on a user's LinkStation Live NAS by logging into www.buffaloNAS.com. The new feature is available for existing LinkStation Live customers via a free firmware upgrade and port forwarding is not required for UPnP-enabled routers.

Buffalo adds 11n / 11g wireless routers, 'hi gain' 11g USB adapters

Buffalo Technology today announced the addition of two new wireless routers and two extended range 11g USB adapters to its wireless product lineup.

The WZR2-G300N AirStation Wireless-N Nfiniti Router replaces the WZR-G300N AirStation Nfiniti Router. The single-band 2.4 GHz router is equipped with three external antennas, built-in DHCP server and 4- port 10/100 Auto-Sensing switch.It also supports a Nintendo DS Wi-Fi connection and Buffalo's AOSS automatic wireless security system.

The WHR-G125 AirStation Wireless-G High Speed Router replaces the WHR-G54S. Features include AOSS support, 4-port 10/100 switch and hardware switching from router to bridge mode.

Both routers have a NAT+SPI firewall and programmable transmit power. Security features include Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA2), Buffalo's Privacy Separator and 128/64-bit WEP.

(Las Vegas, NV) Buffalo Technology refreshed its networked storage lineup with three new products introduced at CES today.

Buffalo adds dual-band standard-def media player

(Las Vegas, NV) Buffalo Technology announced the addition of a dual-band wireless player to its LinkTheater line.

The LinkTheater Wireless-A&G Media Player (PC-P4LWAG) can receive music, video and still image content via 10/100 Ethernet or 802.11a/b/g wireless connections. The player can connect with UPnP AV servers and has certifications for Intel Viiv, DLNA and Dolby Digital.

The player is based on Mediabolic's Media Player software and supports MP3, WMA, AAC, LPCM, JPEG, BMP, PNG, MPEG 1/2/4, WMV 7/8/9, XviD and H.264 file formats. Video output connections include composite, S-video, and D4 component video.

The player will be available in this month at an estimated street price of $249.

Aussies win WiFi patent suit

A federal court in Tyler, Texas has ruled that a patent owned by an agency of the Australian government is valid and covers the core technology found in current wireless devices.

In February, 2005 the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation ("CSIRO") filed suit against Buffalo Technology, a Japanese manufacturer and Buffalo USA, its Austin, Texas-based subsidiary. The action alleged that Buffalo's 802.11a and 802.11g wireless devices infringe claims of United States Patent 5,487,069 ("the '069 patent"). The patent issued in September, 1996 and claims priority to an Australian filing in November, 1991.
